G-Star unveils its long-awaited first collection RAW For the Oceans for Fall/Winter 2014. This collection is the result of a collaboration between Bionic Yarn, the Vortex Project, and Parley for the Oceans, and curator Pharrell Williams, the collection is made from the revolutionary Bionic Yarn, an ecological fiber obtained from recycled plastic bottles. The line will include the first all-denim woven from yarn Bionic Yarn. RAW collection for the Oceans is the vanguard of sustainable fashion. This first collection RAW for the Oceans has already recycling 10 tons of waste plastic from the oceans. Bionic Yarn denims not stand solely through their intrinsic technical qualities: they are also printed with a pattern representing the original mascot of the initiative, Otto the Octopus. Its organic shape blends even in classic designs like houndstooth. These print provide an element of surprise to clothes especially when they are only visible on the back of the pants. RAW collection for the Oceans brings together many pieces, including jeans, bomber jackets, trench coats, t-shirts, sweatshirts and caps – all made from wire Bionic Yarn. Available in heavy shades of indigo blue Mazarine and black, the fabrics are soft to the touch and sturdy handles. This collection marks the beginning of a long collaboration between Bionic Yarn and G-Star RAW. One of the male flagship pieces is the A-Crotch trench, a model with modern cut from a Bionic Yarn raw denim printed. RAW For the Oceans collection will be in stores from September 2014.
