G-Star RAW and Swiss furniture company Vitra have once again come together to resurrect a selection of Jean Prouvé-designed office masterpieces. More than 70 years after their initial creation, Vitra has reinterpreted Jean Prouvé’s furnishings in cooperation with the designer’s family in order to meet the demands of the modern office and its users – from increased human height to cable management. Colours and details were developed by Vitra in collaboration with art directors at G-Star. The ten-piece series brings a contemporary look to Prouvé’s designs while remaining true to the originals. The Office Furniture project was initiated as custom single and double workstations, conference tables, office chairs and other pieces of furniture were issued to furnish G-Star’s new Amsterdam headquarters – designed by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) and built in 2014. Made of steel and solid wood, the tables, chairs and cabinets of the Prouvé RAW Office Edition bear witness to a bygone industrial age. Using leather and heavy-duty fabric upholstery materials, in industrial shades of green, all details pay tribute to the furnishings’ original use and environments. The “Prouvé RAW: Office Edition” collection is available now in Vitra stores and online. A selection of pieces will also be available at G-Star RAW online store.
