didas and Parley for the Oceans are making available a limited number of the shoes, which comprise uppers derived from illegal deep-sea fishing nets and other manmade debris collected off the coasts of the Maldives. Each sneaker consists of roughly 16.5 post-consumer plastic bottles, plus about 13 grams of gill-net plastic, according to Adidas. And, from June 8 through July 31, Instagrammers can enter to win one of 50 pairs by uploading a video that demonstrates their commitment to eliminating single-use plastic items from their lives.
