G-Star and the designer Marc Newson continue their collaboration for the Spring/Summer 2016. The collection’s characteristic Euro/Japanese streetwear take on American sportswear subtly integrates hints of leather, alongside new styles and the Japanese denims the line is known for. The classic Newson Coach jacket is back – with an update. The Coach, known for its unusual architectural construction (a visible signature of an industrial designer’s take on garment making), is offered in a variety of fabrics and interpretations. There is a reversible nylon version with leather piped seams, a clean version in Newson’s 7 Day Calvary Twill (a 11.6oz custom woven indestructible right-hand twill), as well as a version in new crinkle-washed Guard Twill. The jacket is paired with a pant to match, true to Newson’s method of uniform-based collectioning, introducing a new Chino in a 7/8 length, offered in the 7 Day Calvary Twill and crinkle Guard Twill. The premium capsule collection features a new mini-range of Newson’s take on the traditional 5-pocket jeans, the 5-Pocket Denim Slim. With their distinct boxy rear pockets, the 5-pockets tell colour stories, in a water blue, camel, and white – all fully tonal and cut from exceptional Water Denim (14.6 oz selvedge denim, shuttle loom woven in Japan). Completed with tee, ¾ sleeves and sweatshirts in slub jerseys and premium tech sweat-shirting, the range has the iconic graphic handwriting (this season in the Rain Storm print) collected by Newson followers. Additional to the collection, Newson will also release a special limited edition G-Star Elwood later this year in celebration of the style’s 20th anniversary – stay tuned for more. The G-Star by Marc Newson Spring/Summer 2016 collection will be available online and in stores beginning January 2016.
