Limited Edt and adidas Consortium are teaming up on a collection consisting of the Superstar 80v and the ZX Flux. As expected, their treatment resulted in a refreshing mix of graphic elements, a play with materials, and well-placed highlights, but also the heritage and the history of Singapore, its traditions and its costumes. Limited Edt focused on the distinctive designs and created a custom floral pattern incorporating Singapore’s national flower, an orchid, the adidas Trefoil, and the store’s own emblem. The ZX Flux, with it’s all-fabric upper clearly carries most of this visual reference – the print covers the whole shoe – while on the Superstar ‘only’ tongue, lining, and heel tab got the Batik treatment. Subtlety, however, is not to be expected from either style as rose gold was applied as highlight to top it all off. While the ZX Flux’s heel stabilizer appears to be dipped in gold, it’s the Shell-Toe on the Superstar that received the shiny finish. Picking a flower pattern as their main theme PLUS adding gold as prominent detail was a risky move by Limited Edt. The outcome, however, clearly proves their expertise in balancing out extremes to create a bold, yet perfectly wearable statement. The Limited Edt x adidas Consortium Superstar 80v & ZX Flux Pack is available at Limited Edt locations, online and November 28 at adidas concept store: No42 Paris, No74 Berlin and selected Consortium retailers such as END.
