VICE presents Kings of Cocaine, a three-part documentary that looks back on the legacy of the most famous drug traffickers, Pablo Escobar, and penetrates the heart of the new war raging cartels in Latin America. In the first part of Kings of Cocaine, VICE met with DEA agents, Steve Murphy and Javier Peña, two men who spent years tracking down “the king of cocaine” and whose story is the basis for Narcos, the Netflix series. Both agents tell how Pablo Escobar escaped the authorities and extradition and give details of its ultimate capture. For the second part of the documentary, which will be released on October 20, VICE met a leading henchmen and hit men of Pablo Escobar, now repented. The third part of Kings of Cocaine sees VICE teams embark on jungle in order to dismantle clandestine cocaine laboratories alongside the Peruvian military.
