The British brand SMITH-WYKES draws inspiration from the character played by David Bowie in the science fiction film “The Man Who Fell to Earth”, released in 1976 for his Fall/Winter 2015 collection. SMITH-WYKES is offering a full male wardrobe with interchangeable pieces. Material selection has been more qualitative than past seasons with Scottish wools and Italian nylon. Designers claim a modern british style. The collection consists of graphic wool pull-overs, a jean tightened to the ankle, “the Londoner”, which is now a brand’s basic fitting to every pieces of the collection. The key piece of this collection, a duffle coat, is available in boiled wool with kraft and slate colors and in a sublime Scottish tartan with tints of seventies rust. Shirts are made in a dense Oxford cotton or in a lighter twill and are warded off blue squares and robotic graphic details. Wool pants are coming along with “binary” jackets playing on contrasted materials, english canvas cotton and more technical nylon, or “lander” with sharp cuts. A Italian nylon jacket with a thermal finish to wore in as an overshirt is completing the collection.
