One of the most highly anticipated drops of the season, New York-based Engineered Garments consistently create functional, wearable pieces that shouts its distinct influences from the rooftops, chiefly Americana sportswear, classic workwear and utilitarian military outfits. To prove this point, EG designer, the legendary Daiki Suzuki, takes inspiration from the British Army in India during the early 20th Century as well as the traditional attire of the region, applying this lightweight and often decorative influence to his signature silhouettes. Typically, the new season collection boasts some of the best outerwear of the season. Signature pieces such as the Explorer jacket makes use of a varied selection of military innovations with a phalanx of pockets and a sharply cut cotton/linen blend shell, whereas the Light Parka combines a classic silhouette with utilitarian detailing and is an ideal go-to top layer in transitional weather. Supporting the jackets is a well served selection of shirts which combine the best cotton on the market with inspired details and exquisite execution. Each shirt is single needle stitched for a smoother shape showcased no better than on the brand’s 19th Century Button Down Shirt available in an array of patterns and executions. Bookending the collection is some exceptional military-informed legwear including the slim line Fatigue Pant and the Ghurka Short, which alongside the Bucket Hat, is adorned with a Khaki Floral Print which echoes Suzuki’s influences for the collection perfectly. The collection is available online at END Clothing.
