For over a decade, adidas and influential fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto have enjoyed a successful partnership with their luxury sportswear label Y-3. Now, from his Y’s line, Yamamoto has reworked the classic adidas Superstar, executing it to the highest standard. The Y’s version has been renamed Y’s Super Position and is made from premium materials – from the suede lace stay and soft leather lining to the smooth leather used on the toe box, replacing the textured shell toe as we know it. Another reinvention from Yamamoto is the 3-Stripes, which has been transformed with a hand-stitched feel, zigzagging along the side panels and made from cotton that overhangs to the sole; the thread can be cut or left to fray naturally, resulting in truly unique finish for each wearer. Further details include a ‘Y’s Super Position’ callout that sits at side of the heel patch and a Y’s logo on the tongue. The shoe has been designed in two colourways: a white shoe with white 3-Stripes and grey heel tab, and a black version with a white heel tab and black 3-Stripes stitch. Y’s Super Position is available at No. 74 Berlin, No. 42 Paris and selected Consortium retailers worldwide on February 7th.
