In 1969, after the glitz and extravagance of the period mods and swinging London, the rude boys from immigrant Jamaican and part of British youth meet. All originating from the working class, this post-war generation, search for identity, creates its own codes. Their claims in the form of an attitude and a precise and meticulous hyper look – all are passionate about ska, rocksteady and reggae. In partnership with the iconic brands of the movement, Dr. Martens created the “Spirit of 69” collection. True modern interpretation of the figure of the time, this collection pays homage to the first British counterculture and the encounter between fashion and music. The details are essential, the materials selected ensure product longevity, which was required at that time. The link with the music scene is omnipresent. Find in this collection the “ARCHIVE” Dr. Martens line, consisting of cults brand models: Leroy Tassle loafer, Philips/Capper boot, 3989 brogue, Smiths 4 eye and Church Monkey boot. As well as collaborations: Brutus designed two tartan shirts, Alpha Industries updated its classic MA-1 flight jackets with yellow stitches, Edwin reinterpreted the classic skinhead bleached jeans, and a limited-edition record box made in collaboration with Trojan Records. This “Spirit of 69” collection is available from Dr. Martens own online and retail stores around the world.
