55DSL has teamed up with legendary sandal makers Birkenstock, Los Angeles art publisher Arkitip and San Franciscan artist Aaron De La Cruz, to bring you the 55DSL x Birkenstock Monterey Sandal. De La Cruz’s style of mixing organic methods with strict geometric shapes mirror the progressive street inspired design and functionality of 55DSL collaborating with the heritage of a brand established in 1774. Aaron made the trip from the streets of San Francisco to the hills of northern Italy to create his first Italian wall mural. The Birkenstocks were lined up underneath the 50ft artwork where during the process of painting, intentionally directed flecks and drips directly from the paintbrush customized each sandal with organic white patterns – ensuring that each pair produced is a one off part of this limited edition run. De La Cruz’s iconic design has also been water printed onto a 100% cotton, heather-dark grey melange t-shirt and applied with a light rubber print onto a black french terry sweat. Sandals, t-shirts and sweatshirts are available exclusively at Hypebeast. Thereafter, they will be available at Diesel online store and at 55DSL dealers.
