Last Friday Tord Boontje and Perrier-Jouët presented their last collaboration at the Saatchi gallery in London. We were introduced in a dark room were was, in the only part of the room which were enlighted, the enchanting tree. A new way to share a champagne experience, entirely made in crafted metal with white anemones and refined leaves, some of the branches were specially made to hold the champagne glasses. With studied gesture the waiters filled the glasses that the guests had drunk. In a desire to celebrate spring, Perrier-Jouët asks Tord Boondje to rethink the champagne experience. Tord Boontje is already a well known designer his work has been showed at the Victoria and Albert museum and the Tate modern in London, in the MOMA and the Cooper-Hewitt museum in New-York. This artwork take his inspiration from nature and from the Art Nouveau movement dear to Perrier-Jouët. « I wanted to make a single object while respecting the spirit of the Maison Perrier-Jouët, says Tord Boontje. I was inspired by anemones designed by Emile Gallé, and also flowing lines and organic patterns borrowed from the vegetable world ». The enchanting tree combine modernity and craftmanship : the metal branches are hand worked and the leaves are individually soldered. The artist also made a smaller tree with an ice bucket which will be sold at 319€. This champagne set was specially made for the « belle époque » cuvée. After the presentation we were invited to visit Tord Boontje’s studio. We discovered his last works always halfway between nature and modernity.
Please drink responsibly
