On the occasion of Pitti Immagine Uomo, Stone Island exhibited its 30 year existence from 1982 to today. Brand retraces its history dedicated to research and experimentation textiles, to study the function of clothing use and innovation, often by examining the distant worlds of clothing. Vision and modality research recognized as indispensable reference point for the world of sportswear and design. The event, conducted by Stone Island and hosted by the Pitti Discovery Foundation at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence, is directed by Simon Foxton British creative and Nicholas Griffiths. The retrospective STONE ISLAND 30 is consist of over 200 archival documents, and numerous treatments and production processes that were necessary to achieve them. We pass on innovative treatments of textile materials such as coatings, finishes and resin veneers, to study the refraction of light and the investigation of sensitive materials. More specific techniques of dyeing and double stain to play, and dynamic effects of the dye under pressure, then move to parts foreign material in the world of clothing, for example derived from the aerospace and biomedical. On the occasion of the exhibition is presented in world premiere “Archivio ‘982-‘012 ‘, the book tells the story of Stone Island with over 300 pictures of his iconographic archive material.
