The French photographe Rémi Rebillard we propose a new set of pictures and gives us some information about this series …”20 years have gone by….practically another era, another style. ( this was the photographic style I was developing in my work ). March 4th, 1991, I passed in front of the outer wall of Serge Gainsbourg’s house on rue de Verneuil in Paris. He had passed away only 2 days before. Quickly, I snapped a short series of photos of the graffiti that fans had put up in tribute to him. This fashion series was shot the very same week in Paris. I remember the influences of Jean Paul Gauthier , Azzedine Alaia , Mondino…the saturated colors, the strong make-up… There is no correlation between this series and Gainsbourg, except the timing. He died the same week of my shoot. 30 years prior he was a disillusioned painter, something that I too am feeling in my “domaine”.”
